Trip Introduction

Island Peak has become one of the most thrilling and technical peaks in the Everest region. This peak is being famous day by day as while summiting this peak you will also complete

The Everest Base  Camp Trek. similarly; it is the famous peak in the Everest region having an elevation of (6,189m/20,305ft). This Trek takes you through the heart of Khumbu Valley and visiting the base(5363m/17,595 feet) of the world tallest Mountain the Mt. Everest(8848m/29,029 feet).

This Peak is done by many people who are new to Climbing and who wish to climb Mt. Everest in the future. Hence, this peak requires Energetic and physically fit climber.

Itinerary of the Island Peak has been schedule professionally so that you are not prone to altitude sickness and your body gets properly acclimatize. Since your health plays a very vital role in the Mountain.

This 20 day Trek Begin from and comes to end from the gateway of Everest region; Tenzing-Hillary Airport. In this Trek only experience climbing Sherpa guide and climbing sherpa (assistant/helper) are kept.

Before summiting the Island Peak it is mandatory to visit Everest Base Camp Trek as it makes your body ready to face the altitude of Island Peak; and also makes your more comfortable while climbing.

On this Trek, you will have Tea house Trek till Chukung and we provide Camping Trek at the Island Peak Base Camp (5200m) and till High Camp if required.

On this Trek (Island Peak) you will encounter many great mountains such as; Mt. Makalu, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablang and many mountains above <6000 m and the breathtaking panoramic view from Kalapathar.

    • Arrival day in Kathmandu (1300m)

      On this day you will be landed at the Capital City of Nepal-Kathmandu (1300m/4265 ft). It is the only International Airport in Nepal. You will be received by Sherpa Himalaya Representative.

      Then with a brief introduction, you will be welcomed by flower Garland. You will be taken to your hotel where you can rest and freshen up to keep away Jet Lag. You will get a nearby location map from the hotel reception and you can explore around.

    • Trek Preparation day in Kathmandu

      Today you will also be introduced to your respective Guide and Climber for Island Peak. If you have anything to buy for your trek then you can purchase from the stores around. In the evening you will have to pack only the necessary and important items that you need during the Trek and rest you can either store at Hotel or with Sherpa Himalaya.

      We recommend you use the company Duffel bag as there will be less chance of misplacing in an airport and easier to find in case of missing.

    • Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla ( 2,800m/9184ft ) and Trek to Phakdhing 2,652m/8,698ft

      Today you will need to wake up early in the morning. You will be notified by Sherpa Himalaya about the time. You will be received by a private vehicle and dropped to Airport together with the Guide. You will have a very amazing Flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. You will witness very beautiful villages and Aerial view of Himalayan ranges around. With clear weather, you will have a clear idea about the Landscape of the Hilly and Himalayan region.

      As you arrive Lukla, we will take a short Rest and have breakfast or lunch according to the time of Arrival. After that, you will start your Island Peak Trek to Phakdhing. It will take around 2-3 Hours of Trek. You will make your overnight stay here.

      Phakdhing is Elevated at 2610m/ 8562 ft. Before you arrive at Phakdhing the trail will be normal with some steep downhill and with normal uphill Trek. You will also have the first sight of Mountain Kusum Khangguru (6,369m) from Thado Koshi which is at height of 2580m.

    • Trek from Phakdhing to Namche Bazaar( 3,440m/11,283ft)

      After a very comfortable stay at Phakdhing, we will climb up towards Namche Bazaar (3440 m/11,280 feet), Namche Bazar is a small town in Himalaya which used to be very famous trade center.

      Today we will cross over the Hillary Bridge which is also one of the adventurous tasks to make. As we cross the Bridge we will hike straight uphill for almost 2 t0 3 hours to reach the overnight stop(Namche Bazaar). People used to get things from Tibet and sell making the main market point Namche. You will have plenty of hotels and souvenir shops. You can also get an option to buy any Trekking gears and necessary clothes you might need in case you missed any from Kathmandu or Luka.

      During your ascent to Namche Bazar, you will encounter 5 Bridges to cross. This moment will also be one of the memorable. This Day will be a bit harder than the previous Day. You will face a normal uphill walk as well as steep uphill. With recent updates, the trails are made more proper and easier.

    • Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar 3,440m/11,283ft

      Acclimatization is an Extra Day where you will be introduced to a new elevation but the overnight will be at the same spot. It is done so to keep your body familiar with the new environment and to escape from Altitude sickness.

      Acclimatization Day will play a vital role to prevent you from Altitude sickness. This Day we will Hike up to Everest View Hotel which has an elevation of (3880m / 12729 ft.) It is also listed in the UNESCO World Heritage site.

      You will encounter an amazing panoramic view of the Everest Region. Some of the popular Mountains are Mt. Lhotse, Mt Everest, Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Nuptse and Mt. Kongde, Mt. Thamserku and Mt. Khangtega and many more.

      We will return back to Namche for lunch and after lunch, you will have a free day and can explore the local place.

    • Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche ( 3,870m/12,684ft)

      This day after having breakfast we will head towards Debuche (3,820m). As we climb the Namche hill we will make a gentle slope walk for around an hour and then descend down to have the Lunch at Pungi Thanga which has an elevation of 3260m.

      After having a delicious lunch after good Trek we will have to climb up for around an hour and reach a very magnificent and beautiful attraction called Tengboche. There lies one of the oldest and largest monasteries in the Everest Region. This location is also the last point of Everest Panorama Trek.

    • Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4,400m/14,435ft)

      Now you are at higher altitude the surrounding environment and plant density gets thinner. You will witness less tall trees with small bushes of herbs and Shrubs. This Day our destination will be Dhingboche (4,410m). We will have a normal uphill Trek. You will encounter small villages and some small monasteries. We will be trekking along the riverside enjoying the beautiful and peaceful nature.

    • Acclimatization Day in Dingboche

      Today is a rest day here in Dingboche. You can explore around and hike to nearby viewpoints and come back overnight. People say this day as Trek high and sleep low day.

      As earlier in Namche Bazar this day is this day you can enjoy your hike or rest in the hotel.

    • Trek from Dingboche to Lobuche (4,930m/16,170ft)

      As similar to other days after breakfast we will Trek towards Lobuche (4,910 m). This Day we will have gradual upslope with normal Trail until you reach Thukla 4620m. As we reach Thukla we will have a steep climb upward and reach Lobuche.

      This Day you will also be introduced to a memorial spot of Climbers and Sherpa who passed away on Everest Expedition. You will also have sight of some of the beautiful mountains like Lobuche Peak, Mt. Pumori, Mt. Cholatse, Mt. Tobuche, and Mt. Chhumbu.

      Now you have reached very close to Everest Base Camp.

    • Trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep (5170 m/16,961ft) and Everest Base Camp (5364m/17,594ft)

      Today is the day that you will reach your Final Destination Everest Base Camp. After early breakfast, we will climb towards Gorak Shep. After a few hours of an uphill climb, we will reach Gorak Shep ( 5164 m).

      We will have lunch at Gorak Shep and then Make our Everest Base Camp Trek successful by making a Trek for 2 hours to reach the base of Everest (5364 m). As we head towards the final base camp you will have sight of Everest Base Camp, Khumbu Glacier, Mt. Lingtren, Mt, Khumbutse, Mt. Changtse, and Mt. Nuptse.

      We will spend some time at the base camp and share this beautiful moment together, Capture our memories which will be proof of our arrival. Similarly, we will return back to Gorakshep and overnight stay here.

    • Trek from Gorakshep to Kalapathar (5545m/18,192ft) and Dingboche

      This morning we will hike to Kala Pathar (5550m) to see the scenic view of the Everest Region mountains. You will have a beautiful sunrise view on Mt. Everest. This hike is kept as optional.

      If we plan to go there, we will go an early morning without having breakfast and come back to Gorakshep to have breakfast. It will take 2-2.5 hours to reach there and then Return back slowly from the same trail and trek to Dingboche

    • Trek from Dingboche to Chhukung (4,730m/15,518ft)

      Today as you finish your breakfast, we will head towards Chhukung. Today’s trek will be around 2-3 hours.

      As we reach Chhukung we will get our all Climbing gears checked and prepare for the next day.

    • Day 13
    • Trek from Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp (5,200m/17,060ft)

      Today will be a short hike to Island Base Camp. As you finish your breakfast wen will start packing all necessary gears and check them all the needed gears are with us.

      Today your climbing guide will train you for the proper handling of gears and communication during the Climb.

      We can either trek as we finish breakfast or else after the early lunch at Chhukung. As you head towards base camp you will get an amazing view of Glacier and lake known as Imja.

    • Day 14
    • Trek from Island Peak Summit (6,189m/20,305ft) and back to Chukung

      Today we will head towards the summit of 6189m. We will start our climb early in the morning. Today will be a hard Trek with Climbing.

      Our summit steps start steep uphill around 400-500m, zig-zag narrow path with the steeper path of rocks.  until you reach 5900m it’s a straight Trekking. But once you across it will be comparatively strenuous.

      As we reach a top of a ridge our glacier Climb starts. We will put on all of our gears and rope up crossing the glacier by the ropes which are set by Sherpa Climbers.

      We will climb the 100m headwall and summit the Island Peak and slowly climb down together to Chukkung for Overnight stay.

    • Trek from Chukung to Tengboche

      Today after our successful hard climb we will slowly come down towards Tengboche with normal ascend and descend.

      Today after 6-7 hours Trek back we will have overnight at Tengboche.

    • Trek from Tengboche to Namche

      As always after finishing our breakfast we will head back to Namche through the same trail we climbed.

    • Day 17
    • Trek from Namche to Phakding and Lukla

      Trekking down from the same trail we made earlier, we are at Lukla. The trail down will be easier than earlier ascends.

      Today is the last day of your Island Peak and meet with the staff. After the last day meets and greets with the members we will prepare for our flight to Kathmandu tomorrow.

    • Flight from Lukla to Kathmandu

      Today we will fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. You will be picked by the Sherpa Himalaya representative and dropped at Hotel.

      After this beautiful and adventurous Island Peak Climb, you can have a proper rest at your hotel. An extra free day is programmed by Sherpa Himalaya. A free day is kept to recover if in case the flight gets delayed.

      On timely arrival to Kathmandu, you can use the free day as a day to explore and shop for your family, or else you can also make a short city tour.

    • Free Day in Kathmandu

      As mentioned above this day is specially programmed to recover if the Lukla- Kathmandu flights get delayed due to uncertain change in weather.

      With timely arrival, you can Explore the Thamel market and shop for your family. You can also make a short city tour to explore some World Heritage Site.

      You will be invited for the Last farewell dinner with Sherpa Himalaya Executive.

    • Final Departure

      Today morning you Sherpa Himalaya representative will be there at your hotel for the last meet. You will be dropped at the airport considering airport time.

      Sherpa Himalaya will thank you for an amazing time together and handover Buddhist Scarf (Kha-tak) which symbolizes peace, prosperity, Long life and Harmony to everyone and a certificate for your completion of Island Peak with Sherpa Himalaya.

      With a hope to see all the beautiful people again, a warm Namaste and a hand wave.
