Trip Introduction

Dolpa Circuit Trek is one of the best routes of trekking in Dolpa. You will be trekking through several typical villages and the flat valley like Dho Tarap having enchanting views in the midst of nature.

From the beautiful Dho valley you will head for Shey Phoksundo Lake, the deepest lake of Nepal which is famous for its crystal clear water and turquoise colour. There is no any aquatic creature the lake remains always neat and clean watered.

The Dolpa Circuit Trek trail leads through diverse landscape from lush forest to arid high altitude deserts, creating a virtual contrast that is nothing short of captivating. the region is also home to rare and elusive wildlife, including the snow leopard, blue sheep and various species of birds.


If you have experience of passes will be better for this trip because you will have to cross two 5000m high passes.

    • Arrival in Kathmandu

      On this day you will be landed at the Capital City of Nepal-Kathmandu (1300m/4265 ft). It is the only International Airport in Nepal. You will be received by Sherpa Himalaya Representative.

      Then with a brief introduction, you will be welcomed by flower Garland. You will be taken to your Hotel where you can rest and freshen up to keep away Jet Lag. You will get a nearby location map from the hotel reception and you can explore around.

    • Trek Pre paration day in kathmandu

      Today you will also be introduced to your respective Guide for Dolpa Experience Circuit Trek. If you have anything to buy for your trek then you can purchase from the stores around. In the evening you will have to pack only the necessary and important items that you need during the Trek and the rest you can either store at Hotel or with Sherpa Himalaya.

      We recommend you use the company Duffel bag as there will be less chance of misplacing in an airport and easier to find in case of missing.

    • Kathmandu to Nepalgunj/ flight

      Today as you finish your breakfast you will be picked by your guide in the hotel and head towards TIA airport and make a scenic flight to Nepalgunj.

    • Day 04
    • Nepalgunj to Juphal/ flight and Juphal to Dunai/ (2150m)

      Today again you will head to Nepalgunj airport after you finish your breakfast. You will have an amazing flight to Juphal.

      You will be witness beautiful monasteries, river and landscape from your flight. after around 35 minutes of flight, you will be at Juphal. After a short trek, you will reach a small and beautiful town Dunai.

      You will find a huge ricer flowing between the Dunai village, monasteries, pagoda-style stupa, and a good facility of hotels.

    • Trek from Dunai to Tarakot (2540m)/ 5-6 hrs Trek

      Your Trek starts as you finish your breakfast. Today will be a long day walk along the Bheri River.

      If you come along the river your trail will be almost 13 km and you will need 5-6 hours of a normal walk. Today you will be at the mid-hill settlement of western Nepal after crossing rivers, ridges, and small monasteries.  This village Tarakot was also a well-known place for trading in ancient years. Here the majority settlement is of Magar people highly influenced by Buddhism.

    • Trek from Tarakot to Laini Odar (3375m)/ 4-5 hrs Trek

      This day we will come across a new river known as Bharbung Khola. After a continuous walk along the Bheri River, you will come across a small village formed by Bharbung Khola. Then your trek heads towards the eastern side.

      You will encounter small villages on the way. After reaching a well-known village called Khani Gaun; which is the winter settlement place of Dho Tarap people with little more uphill push you will arrive at Laini Odar.

      Laini Odar is a beautiful place for camping. You will also find a waterfall nearby.

    • Trek from Laini Odar to Nawarpani 3475m

      As you finish your breakfast today your destination will be Nawarpani. The trail starts through a narrow path in the deep gorges with big rocky cliffs. with a continuous trek towards the north, your trail starts to open wider.

      Crossing a river and making a normal uphill climb we arrive at Nawarpani.

    • Trek from Nawarpani to Dho Tarap (3950m)/ 6-7 hrs Trek

      Today will be a beautiful trail day.  You will visit beautiful villages with totally different cultures and traditions. This trail has the power to reflect centuries-old lifestyle clearly to you.

      Trekking along with Tarap river you will reach a place called Ghyamghar. It is a small village with beautiful and very old monasteries. you will constantly change the sides of the river from eastern to western and vice versa.

      With a continuous trek of 6-7 hours trek, you will arrive at Do-Tarap. The village gives a good definition of Dolpa. This village was also a famous trading point for the people from Tibet and mustang in earlier days.

    • Acclimatization Day in Dho-Tarap

      Acclimatization is an Extra Day where you will be introduced to a new elevation but the overnight will be at the same spot. It is done so to keep your body familiar with the new environment and to escape from Altitude sickness.

      Acclimatization Day will play a vital role to prevent you from Altitude sickness. Dho-Tarap is also well known as the home of monasteries. You will find plenty of monasteries here. Today you can explore the monasteries here. These monasteries hold a very strong history of Buddhist gods.

    • Trek from Dho Tarap of Numa La Base Camp (4350m)/ 4-5 hrs trek

      Today your destination will be Numa La Base Camp. You will have an uphill climb. Today your trek will be of 4-5 hours long. On the way, you will see many monasteries in distance and small houses with settlements of very few people.

    • Trek from Numa La Pass to Danighar (4510m) via Numa La Pass (5310m)/ 6-7 hrs Trek

      A tough day in your Dopa Experience Circuit trek. Today you will trek crossing 5310m pass(Numa la pass). You will have an uphill trail towards the endless ridge top.

      A beautiful view of Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Churen Himal can be seen. You will need 3-4 hours of a hard climb to reach Numa la pass. After a beautiful time at 5310m you will descend down towards Danighar.

    • Trek from Danighar to Yak Kharka via Baga La Pass (5170m)/ 5-6 hrs trek

      As earlier day today, you will be introduced to another pass. Today your pass will be 5170 m (Banga La Pass). Today your elevation will gain rapidly with an uphill climb.

      At 5170m you will witness scared Chorten (stupa), some snow-capped peaks. The trails are very clear and it feels that you are the first one to step on those lands.

      You again descend down to 4000 m  for overnight.

    • Trek from Yak kharka to Phoksundo (3600m)

      Today your destination will be Phoksundo Lake. One of the most beautiful lakes in Nepal. You will find to trail one heading down and the other upwards. The upward trail takes you to Ringmo which is where you should be going.

      You will be trekking through mostly pine and juniper trees. A stunning view of your trekking trail can be also seen along the trail. With around 40 min descend from Ringmo you will arrive ar your today’s destination Phoksundo Lake.

    • Explore around Phoksundo Lake

      Today you can explore the beautiful Phoksunda lake along with Bon Monastery.

      Phoksundo lake is famous due to its turquoise color with a spectacular scenes. Ringmo village offers you small traditional villages with some monasteries. We will explore them and come back to camp for overnight.

    • Day 15
    • Trek from Phoksundo Lake to Chepka / 6 hrs trek

      Today we will head back towards Juphal. You have now completed the Dolpa experience circuit trek. You will know what does it mean to trek in Dolpa and know the lifestyle, culture, and tradition of people there who are still untouched by modernization.

      With 5-6 hours descend you will be at a place called Chekpa. This is also the last point that falls in Phoksundo National Park.

    • Trek from Chepka to Juphal/ 6 hrs trek

      As you finish your breakfast, you will continue your descend. the trail is mostly downhill. Now you will find more human settlements and villages along the trail. It takes around 6 hours to reach Juphal.

    • Day 17
    • Juphal to Nepalgunj flight and Nepalgunj to Kathmandu flight

      This day you will have two flights. Juphal to Nepalgunj, and Nepalgunj to Kathmandu.

      You will have a morning flight to Nepalgunj and there you will have lunch and prepare for the afternoon flight to Kathmandu.

      You will be picked by the Sherpa Himalaya representative at the airport and drop you at the hotel.

    • Free Day in Kathmandu

      As mentioned above this day is specially programmed to recover if the flights get delayed due to uncertain changes in weather.

      With timely arrival, you can Explore the Thamel market and shop for your family. You can also make a short city tour to explore some World Heritage Site.

      You will be invited for the Last farewell dinner with Sherpa Himalaya Executive.

    • Final Departure

      Today morning you Sherpa Himalaya representative will be there at your hotel for the last meet. You will be dropped at the airport considering airport time.
