Trip Overview

Pikey Trek is a wonderful journey where it leads you to beautiful Solu areas which are the southern part of Khumbu and Everest region, on this walk visiting lovely Sherpa and other mix hill tribe villages with grand views of snowcapped peaks with Everest.

Pikey Trek begins with an exciting overland drive to Jiri from Kathmandu heading North East with super views of the mountain range as the drive leads past Charikot town to reach at famous Jiri, also known as Switzerland of Nepal due to its beautiful location on a green valley with great views of mountains and rolling hills.

Walk leads past Jiri town following the same classic route of Everest for few days on the main trail till Lamjura a high pass in the midst of beautiful forest surrounding, from here our walk leads to our highlight of the adventure on top of Pikey Hill with super wide views Mt. Everest (8,848m / 29, 028ft) Lhotse (8,516 m-24,940 ft), Nuptse (7,855m-25,772 ft) Kangtenga (6,782 m / 22, 380 ft) Tharmarsarku ( 6,623 m / 21, 855 ft) Kwangde (6,011 m / 19,837 ft) Kusum Khanguru (6,373 m / 21,030 ft) and many other smaller unnamed peaks with Numbur peak.

After a delightful moment on top of Pikey, our walk concludes on reaching a nice Sherpa village and town at Phaplu for the flight back to Kathmandu with a glorious moment on Pikey Trek.

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1300m)

Day 02: Trip Preparation Day in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Drive Kathmandu to Jiri

Day 04: Jiri – Bhandar (2200m) – 7 hours

Day 05: Bhandar – Yermakhu (2300m) 5 hours

Day 06: Yermakhu – Nagur (3350m) 4 hours

Day 07: Nagur – Pikey, 3-4 hours

Day 08: Pikey – Pikey Peak (4065m – Jash Bhanjyang (2250m) 3hours

Day 09: Jash Bhanjyang to Jun Besi, 6-8 hours

Day 10: Jun Besi – Phaplu, 4-5 hours

Day 11: Phaplu – Kathmandu (40 minute flight)

Day 12: Free Day in Kathmandu.

Accommodations

As you are picked from Tribhuwan International  Airpot, Kathmandu you will be accommodated in a three-star level Hotel with Bed and Breakfast.  We accommodate on the basis of twin shared room. A single room can be also accommodated upon your request. Your room will be facilitated with attached restrooms in the Kathmandu. During the Trekking premises, in some places, they only have a shared washroom and restroom. As you reach higher elevation single rooms may be difficult to manage.

Meals

During our Trek Authentic Nepali food is available and more common. You will also get international Cuisine such as Continental, Italian, Indian, etc. Breakfast-Dinner will be served as per lodge menu where we stay overnight. Lunch will be served on the trail of Next destination. During Trek, all meals will be provided whereas, only breakfast is served in Kathmandu. Sherpa Himalaya will serve you special last day dinner.

Physical Condition & Requirement

This Trek is a moderate level Trek. You will be walking for 6-7 hour a day on average. We will face the steep hill, cross steep, hilly terrain etc.  We will be heading mostly uphill where we will face an average of 4000m altitude change. You will be given acclimatization day in between the trail so that you will not face altitude sickness. If you have strong determination and hope in yourself then this Trek will not be that difficult.

If you have done any Trek before it will be your skill but you don’t require pre-experience or any training for this Trek. If you have any health problems it would be better if you consult with a doctor before your visit and give the details to Sherpa Himalaya so that we could customize your trip as per your body requirement.

Best Time to Visit

Weather in Nepal is quite a favorable. For trekking we have two peak season; Spring & Autumn. Autumn season starts from September to November whereas Spring season starts from March to May. Beside this two season, you can visit Nepal in other months too but it is quite cold in January and rainy in the month of July & August.

Your health safety and last destination with high-quality service is our Main priority. Your guide has the authority to bring change in itinerary, stop or cancel any part of your itinerary if it is very necessary due to safety concern. However, these kinds of problem rarely arise. Our effort will be to follow our given itinerary. Weather condition, health problem or any natural disaster and flight cancellation due to bad weather in the mountain may bring change in itinerary.
