Helambu Trek: Helambu a High Land Village in Nepal, which stands around 80 km away from the Capital city of Nepal; Kathmandu. This is a short Trek of 9 Days including arrival, departure. This Trek is specially programmed for the visitors having very less time and the Trek cost is also relatively cheaper. On this Helambu Trek, we will hike for around 7-8 days. Similarly, Our short and beautiful Trek starts from a nearby city; Sundarijal (1,390 m (4,560 ft). We will hike from Sundarijal and trek past a beautiful village called Chisapani. We will also walk past small water dam. Furthermore, Sundarijal has become a famous place for the people living in the city to breathe some fresh air and spent quality time from noise.
Moreover, Helambu is a small village almost in a remote area; with the mixture of Sherpa and Hyolmo People. These People mostly follow Buddhism and influence by Tibetan culture. Furthermore, Situated on top of a hill surrounded by dense forest gives sight to many mountains. You will see the Views of Gosaikunda and Langtang Range Mountains. On this Helambu Trek, you will be passing through a dense forest of Rhododendron; Which is the national flower of Nepal. Listening to the songs of birds enjoying the beautiful nature and biodiversity; we will slowly trek and reach our final destination of this Helambu Trek; Helambu Village.
As you are picked from Tribhuwan International Airpot, Kathmandu you will be accommodated in a three-star level Hotel with Bed and Breakfast. We accommodate on the basis of twin shared room. A single room can be also accommodated upon your request. Your room will be facilitated with attached restrooms in the Kathmandu. During the Trekking premises, in some places, they only have a shared washroom and restroom. As you reach higher elevation single rooms may be difficult to manage.
During our Trek Authentic Nepali food is available and more common. You will also get international Cuisine such as Continental, Italian, Indian, etc. Breakfast-Dinner will be served as per lodge menu where we stay overnight. Lunch will be served on the trail of Next destination. During Trek, all meals will be provided whereas, only breakfast is served in Kathmandu. Sherpa Himalaya will serve you special last day dinner.
Physical Condition & Requirement
This Trek is a moderate level Trek. You will be walking for 6-7 hour a day on average. We will face the steep hill, cross steep, hilly terrain etc. We will be heading mostly uphill where we will face an average of 4000m altitude change. You will be given acclimatization day in between the trail so that you will not face altitude sickness. If you have strong determination and hope in yourself then this Trek will not be that difficult.
If you have done any Trek before it will be your skill but you don’t require pre-experience or any training for this Trek. If you have any health problems it would be better if you consult with a doctor before your visit and give the details to Sherpa Himalaya so that we could customize your trip as per your body requirement.
Best Time to Visit
Weather in Nepal is quite a favorable. For trekking we have two peak season; Spring & Autumn. Autumn season starts from September to November whereas Spring season starts from March to May. Beside this two season, you can visit Nepal in other months too but it is quite cold in January and rainy in the month of July & August.
Your health safety and last destination with high-quality service is our Main priority. Your guide has the authority to bring change in itinerary, stop or cancel any part of your itinerary if it is very necessary due to safety concern. However, these kinds of problem rarely arise. Our effort will be to follow our given itinerary. Weather condition, health problem or any natural disaster and flight cancellation due to bad weather in the mountain may bring change in itinerary.

Arrival day in Kathmandu (1300m)
Upon arrival at Nepal’s heart, the capital known as Kathmandu, via Tribhuwan International Airport, we will welcome you warmly and take you to the hotel where you will stay overnight. We will brief you shortly on your upcoming Trek with us after refreshment. We will also introduce you to your trekking guide and team guide.
Drive to Sundarijal & trek to Chisapani (2300m/7544 ft): Drive 1 hour, Trek: 4 hours
This Day after having our breakfast we will drive to Sundarijal by a drive. It will take around an hour. As we reach Sundarijal we will hike upwards through the Sundarijal. Furthermore, You will enjoy the beautiful waterfalls on the way. As we walk ahead we will reach the Dam of that place which is also one of the oldest one. Similarly, after a short hike of around one and a half hour, we will reach a beautiful village called Mulkharka. After reaching the village of Tamang People; Mulkharka good view of Kathmandu can be seen. Then we will walk ahead for around 2 hours and reach a small and beautiful village name after cold water; Chisapani. This place will be the first night of Helambu Trek.
Trek from Chisopani to Kutumsang (2446m/8022ft): 7 hours
After our morning breakfast, we will head towards Kutumsang. Our trek will start from a decent crossing of meadows and fields. We will also view the magnificent views of the Langtang mountain range along our trail. We will have lunch at Pathi Bhanjyang and rest. From there we will cross Gul Bhanjyang and climb uphill the ridge to reach another pass. Descending from the pass we will reach Kutumsang and stay overnight there.
Trek from Kutumsang to Thadepati (3650m/11972ft): 6 hours
this morning we will Trek to the north. This Day you will also see some peaks. For an hour we will walk a steep hill surrounded by Rhododendron Forest. Very less settlement will be there on the way. This Days Trail will include both ascend and descend. As we Trek for around 5-6 hours, we will reach Tharepati (3650 m) This place has become a great viewpoint from where; it provides an awesome view of small peaks such as Gaurishankar, Jugal, Numbur and so on. The food and accommodation here are also good. We will overstay here.
Trek to Tarkeghyang (2560m/8397ft): 6 hours
Today again we will trek along the Rhododendrons and pine trees where we will descend downhill. Very good view of Helambu can be seen. We will be Trekking along with the view of Numbur and Jugal mountain. We will go pass the Melamchi Gaun; a village named after the river (Melamchi). We will gently rise uphill and reach a small Sherpa village; Tharkeghyang. This village is the Helambu. This is the last destination of out Helambu Trek. Mostly inhabited by Sherpa people; having awesome religion provides you awesome hospitality and make your Helambu Trek even more beautiful as you have thought. We will stay overnight here.
Tarkeghyang to Sermathang
This day we will head towards Sermathang. First, we will come down gradually. Furthermore, as we walk down for around 2-3 hours we will probably, have our lunch at Nakote. We will hike slowly uphill across the small villages and dense forest of mostly pine trees. You will be able to see mostly Sherpa and Hyolmo people on the way and it is obvious; that you will be very close to these people culture, language and Tradition. Similarly, with a gradual rise, we will walk for 3-4 hours more across small hills and finally reach Sermathang. It is a beautiful village with Terrace farming all around the hotels. This village is almost on top of a hill which will give you a beautiful sight of the surrounding. We will Stay an overnight here.
Free Day in Kathmandu
This day is set aside for unforeseen conditions. This day is also reserved for proper rest and shopping at Kathmandu. One can enjoy local Thamel market or rest on this day. Overnight at Kathmandu.
If your schedule is to departure from Kathmandu we would drop you to the airport as per your schedule or you can extend your holiday if you have time.
